Description

The listing, Mexican Flame Vine seeds has ended.

This is my favorite plant. These are very easy to grow and will spread quickly. They will get 8 to 10 feet wide and almost as tall. You can put them along your fence or tree or Lanai (as I did) and they will spread easily. You can also use them as ground cover. The suggested range is zones 10 and 11. If you grow them in colder regions, they will die when it gets cold. Howver, you should be able to collect the seeds and grow them again the following year.

I almost forgot to mention, Butterflies love them!

The scientific name is Senecio confusus.

I just read on USF's (University of South Florida) site that these also grow well in zones 8 and 9 as an annual. You can collect the seeds at the end of the season and restart them in the spring.

I Have these. I live in Zone 6 Northern New Mexico. Our winters are brutally cold. But I winterize mine by cutting mine back after I collect seeds then dig the soil out from around the plant and about 1 foot away from roots then I fill it with saw dust, cover it to the top Plus maybe 8 inchs above the ground then place wood shavings over the saw dust and place a triple layer of 6 ply plastic in a teepee over it and every spring clean it out and mine comes back just as pretty as year before. So anybody in colder climate if you really try to protect it you can help it survive a cold brittle winter.
