Description

The listing, (((TRUSTED SELLER))) EXTREMELY UNUSUAL LAVA NECKLACE has ended.

Now THIS is something you don't see every day...in fact, I don't remember EVER having seen a necklace like this before. I just couldn't resist because of its uniqueness!!!
When lava is underground in its molten state it is called magma. As it reaches the ground, and air, it is called lava. Once lava begins to harden it can turn into a variety of shapes and colors. The color of lava depends on the temperature of the flow as well as what impurities are in the liquid rock. Colors can include black, red, gray, brown and tan, metallic sliver, pink, and green. Some lava has peridot (olivine) in it which are beautiful olive colored semi-precious crystals that, once they weather and break apart, are responsible for the famous green sand beaches.

When lava cools it also forms a myriad of different shapes and types of lava. There are two main types of lava pahoehoe (pa-hoy-hoy) and a'a (ah ah). .With a'a, the rocks are porous and very jagged. In general, pahoehoe is very easy to walk on and a'a is very difficult, if not nearly impossible, to walk on. What we have here is the a'a lava, and it makes a very interesting piece of jewelry...and it is a piece that I would venture to say, you may NEVER see on anyone else. That intrigues me. I LIKE to have something everyone else doesn't, don't you? Now, you might run into someone with lava beads, but this is rustic lava...just like it comes out of the ground and down the mountain. I think this piece makes a BOLD statement...Are you the type of person who can make a Bold statement with it? Well, this is your chance.
Happy Bidding on this! This necklace lengthens from 16 12/ to 18 1/3" Thanks for coming by and checking out my auctions.

Is it hand made? (*.*)

I doubt it...or at least not handmade like I think you are asking. It may have been handmade in a differerent country, but not like home made hand made, if that makes sense. It was not made by "loving hands at home" so to speak.

Well, you gotta admit that you don't see lava every day, much less walking down the street around someone's neck :) In fact, I think this is the first time I have ever really had my hand on lava itselt. I have had other by products, like obsidian, but not the lava itself! In fact, I have an obsidian nectklace that will be up at auction fairly soon....it is really pretty too. Keep your eyes peeled for a MULTI strand Mahogany Obsidian necklace...playing in an auction near you very soon!! :) Maybe even today.
