Here's an old piece of American history. This is a receipt for a Masons mutual benefit life insurance policy.
The small writing reads:
"N.E. Cor Market and Circle Sts., 2d floor, Indianapolis, September 1, 1890

$7.20 due to the Masonic Mutual Benefit Society of Indiana, as his assessment on account of the benefits paid by the Society to the heirs of Richard M Davis, Willard W Holloway, Emmanuel Zink and Pleasant Bledsoe.
