Is there a particular type of soil that radishes do best in?

I think radishes do well in just about anything except clay. Because it is a rot crop, it needs to be able to push the dirt away to grow, but most clay soils won't allow it to do that. I think that wuld be true with any root crop. Carrots, potatoes, beets, rutabega, turnips..... Thanks for asking :-}
