Efficacy? From what I've read, you are definitely better off using a soap, dishwasher, lysol, boiling water, etc. If you are traveling, this MIGHT be a reasonable option since the other ones might be a little harder.

It is not particularly bright. You also don't want to spend time looking at it or its reflected light, since UV is pretty bad for your eyes.
