Description

The listing, GORGEOUS VINE 6 seeds Hyacinth Bean Purple has ended.

You are buying 6 FRESH seeds of the "Purple Hyacinth Bean Vine" (Lablab purpureus, Dolichos lablab).

Every year I grow these I still think "WOW" -they never fail to impress! As they grow you get lovely hunter green, heart-shaped leaves with purple veins. Then as the summer goes along the large, deep purple waxy seed pods develop and add even more beauty to your vine. These seed pods really stand out against the lovely green foliage and are every bit as attractive as the flowers!

@@@The seeds and pods are poisonous so don't let your pets eat them. We have cats and many deer around and I've never had a problem.@@@

They can grow in full sun to partial shade and I've found them to be fairly drought tolerant. They sprout easily and grow quickly reaching 20 feet or more - a very vigorous vine and bloomer - blooming all summer to frost.

It's been cultivated as a novelty plant in the U.S for generations -- grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello!

Grow these on your fence row, arbor or porch rail. I shared them w/ a lady who lives in a senior village and didn't have a lot of room to plant. She planted the seeds at the base of her lamp post and it was BEAUTIFUL!!!

They're a perfect heirloom vine for your cottage garden! Oh, and don't forget the BUTTERFLIES & HUMMINGBIRDS that frequent the flowers - they'll love them too :)

AND THE BEST PART.............NEXT YEAR YOU'LL HAVE SOOOO MANY SEEDS :)WHOOP WHOOP!!

Listing lots of seeds from MY OWN 2011 GARDEN in this next week so check them out :)

Yes they sure will grow :) Here's some more info I found:

Hyacinth Bean can be a perennial in zones 9 - 11 which do not get frost; however, in other zones it grows as an annual climbing vine. In colder regions farther north, gardeners need to let some seed pods develop and ripen(dry out) in late summer or early fall. Collect the seed pods and remove the dark purple-brown or black seeds to store over winter. Plant the seeds next spring to enjoy new plants year after year.
