Description

The listing, Nikko Blue Hydrangea Seeds x 50 has ended.

Thank you for looking at my listing. I am offering approximately 50 seeds. They are so tiny, you will receive at least 50.

Hydrangea care is largely low maintenance, making hydrangeas a good choice for new or experienced gardeners. The color of hydrangea flowers is influenced by the acidity of the soil, with blue flowers thriving on acid soils and pink blooms making a great show for alkaline or limy soils.

USDA Hardiness zones: 05b to 09a
Mature Height: 48 to 264 inches
Mature Spread: 48 to 96 inches
Surface sow seeds immediately in flats filled with potting soil and place them in a sunny, wind-protected area or cold frame outdoors. Alternatively, place the collected seeds in a closed plastic bag in the refrigerator and sow in a cold frame in the spring. They germinate about 14 days after planting. They prefer moist, well-drained acidic soil.
It is not necessary to dry hydrangea seeds or give them cold treatment before germination, but neither practice will reduce their viability.

I have just recently collected the seeds from my large bush. Plant them now.

These are so pretty. They change color from the yellow at the beginning of the bloom to blue to purple/pink and then to solid blue. I love them. The blooms last for weeks.

My great aunt grew them like a champ. She used to say if you put a rusty nail in the ground next to them It would change their color. If I started some indoors now, would they be ready to set outside by spring? I'm a novice gardener lol

Yes, you can set them in their final location after the last frost in your area and they should do great for you. I have heard about the rusty nails and put them around my azaleas and rhododendrons and it does help them bloom better. Thank you for sharing.
