The listing, Springfield Collection 18" Doll Abby PLZ Read! has ended.
This is a 1996 18" doll. She is from the Springfield Collection and her name is Abby. It has the FCM stamp on the neck.First here is a brief doll history lesson. FCM is the manufacturing company that made the dolls for American Girl, (which was called Pleasant) and Springfield Dolls back in 1996. Then in 1998 FCM went out of business and Springfield became Springfield Collection and made their own dolls and American Girl aka Pleasant, sold out to Mattel and the rest was history. A lot of people think that American Girl Dolls just started making 18" dolls in the last 20 years, but the first 18" American Girl doll was made in 1986.When this doll was made they didn't use neck strings on all of the dolls. They used zip tie closures. I am not sure how to replace them or where you would by a replacement kit. I know that the American Girl sells them and those will fit this doll. You could Google it or call American Girl. I've also seen neck string kits on eBay, so you might look on eBay as well. This doll needs a replacement as I don't know if you can tighten them or not. Her arms and legs are very loose. She has gorgeous soft and silky hair, no frizzy at all.She will be wearing her blue dress that she originally came in.She will not have any shoes or underwear. She comes from a smoke-free home and shipping is free with tracking once I get your verified address. Please check my other listings for 18" dolls and thanks for looking!
