I just ate one and I really like them...crunchy. They get much bigger in the summer..as big as my thumb....right now they're not as big but occasionally I'll find one with a good size to it......No, haaa they are not worms.
These taste a lot like water chestnuts to me....
The first time I saw one it scared me. Some will get as big as my thumb. Once these start they keep on here in SC. They need to be planted now.

The tubers are crisp, juicy and very delicious. (NO taste of mint to me) You can pickle them, make a salad with them, or make a stir fry with chestnuts, good boiled, good raw, good steamed and coated with soy sauce. Plenty of ways to fix this little oddity. Even tea can be made from the leaf.

You will get 3 or 4 tubers, some with the live stems on them....with their little roots
