.925 is the code for sterling silver not gold, gold's purity is measured in karats like 10k 14k and so on to 24k, silvers purity is measured by just numbers like .925 meaning almost pure only .75 is another metal. It could very well be gold plated over .925 sterling which if done right is very durable. Very nice necklace I used to have one just like it years ago and horse play in the pool and off it ripped.
Sorry to hear that, But my father in-law looked it up and the website said, (.925 ment 92.5 percent gold, and the reason why it's wriiten like that is because its illegal to put a hallmark on jewelry, unless it's pure.) All I know is we took a magnet to it and it didn't stick to it and I've heard this is how to tell fake from real.:) All thats written on it is .925 Italy and it's gold. The magnet however, did pick up the clasp.
925 Italy means your bracelet was: made in Italy, it's 92.5% pure sterling silver, 7.5% infused alloy metal (possibly copper) and gold plated. t's very pretty :)
