Description

The listing, Giant Mammoth Dill 50 seed has ended.

This variety is the one your grandma used to make dill pickles. Giant Mammoth Dill is a variety commonly grown for its leaves and seeds.

It grows to about 36 inches, and can easily snap in strong wind. Stake or plant in a wind-protected area. Plant Mammoth Dill where it will receive full sun and in loose, well-draining soil. It does best outdoors with the seeds sown directly in the ground.

Dill plants have long taproots. Plant again 3 weeks to ensure you have fresh dill when the cucumbers are ready to harvest for pickle making.

All dill varieties, like parsley and fennel, draw the parsleyworm caterpillar, which is the larva of the black swallowtail butterfly.

Grow extra dill for the pollinators and caterpillars. Companion plant to carrots, cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes.Sow dill seeds about ¼-inch deep and 18 inches apart in rich soil, then gently rake the seeds into the soil and lightly firm, the the soil over the seed.

The soil should be around 60 to 70ºF before planting. All dill prefers soils that are well drained, moderately rich, and loose.
