If you don't damage the silver plate, it will not. Silver plate is very durable. Most tea/coffee sets that are silver plate, last for years is taken care of properly. Now, if 10k or 14k leaves a dark ring aroiund your finger, silver and silver plate will most likely do the same because of body chem.
