Description

The listing, Cashmere Like Wool in Rainbow Colors has ended.

This auction is for two brand new balls of extremely soft Shu Princess yarn. I bought it as cashmere but it says "100% wool" on the ball band. So I'm selling it as wool even though it might well be cashmere. In any case, it's beautifully dyed in yellow/orange with
red/purple//blue/green thrown in.
Besides lovely for knitting, crochet, and cross stitch/embroidery, this yarn is suitable for felting, because it's not machine washable..
50 grams/180 meters per ball.
single ply, I'd say sock weight

Sweetheart, cashmere IS wool. It comes from goats. Unless things have changed, which is always possible, it is the most expensive of wools because of it's scarcity. It comes from the soft underbelly & takes the wool of 2 goats to make one sweater. At least, that's what I read somewhere. These are beautiful! W & B!

Honeychild, in the US knitting world, "wool" is generally understood to mean "sheep's wool". Think "100% wool", "50% wool/50% alpaca" and so on. Cashmere is certainly a luxury fiber, but certainly not the most expensive one. That's vicunja, closely followed by qiviut. ;-)

Lol. I did say "Unless things have changed." It's been a long time since I bought luxury yarn. Alpaca was "new" & about half the price of cashmere. (Everybody, it seemed, was starting an Alpaca Farm!) Plus it was a tough sell if the customer hadn't heard of the fiber. Justifying the price was hard to get across. I don't even go window shopping for yarn anymore. Too tempting. I've already got more than I'll ever use but, I just can't say no to a good yarn.

especially on sale! lol I, too, have enough yarn and fiber to last for decades, but sometimes it's hard to resist a good deal. So my stash is growing,,,, Sometimes I buy mixed yarn lots, keep what I want and sell the rest.

What ever it's made from it's very pretty yarn! (I didn't even know that goat fiber was used to make yarn. I think I have something similar. It looks great woven into cord for jewelry or handbag straps because the color changes gradually from one into the next vertically down the cord.
