A young, pretty Swedish woman that came in a box of photos from Sweden when my cousin passed away, We are Swedish-Americans and none of our family recognize who this person is, nor did we have relatives in Hemse.Sweden
Christian Cross around her neck,Big velvet bow--All the photos in the package we received were 1860s to early 1880s, This types of photo is called a carte de visite, in Sepia, and good and plain viewing( there is a lightened area above shoulder made with the developing of the photo, and not a flaw received afterwards.. A carte de viste photo is 4 inches by 2 1/2 inches and made to fit in albums of the date given. This photo is from the 1870s.
The back is very interesting with a big ad for the FEMALE PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO--That is a right an early photographer--a woman that would be rare in USA, but Swedish women were anxious to do all the jobs men were doing,( Viking descendant that she was!!!)
The camera pictured is very antique, again one for the period I mentioned.
Since she is no a relative of ours---can she just be a sweet girl relative of yours?? She needs some love!
