by the looks of it, its prolly ruby. Garnet stones tend to be morereddish brown or brownish green in color.

Try a Tourmaline. I think that this is a Cognac. Really rare....

This stone is more red. The light from the cammera caused a sparkle that makes it look more pink in the picture. But maybe it could be. Thank you for the info.

I actually just found a small garnet this same color...very deep purple/pinkish...very pretty...did you know garnet can come in many colors? Technically so can many other gemstones...probably lots of you know this, but this is something I just figured out! Hubby and I just bought a gem tester, still playing with it; it's fun :)

It is hard trying to describe the color.It is not red, nor pink, nor purple. LOL. I will try to take some more pics and post them. Maybe they will help.

Hummm, not sure those are any better. Unfortunately, Im not very good at taking photos. I do think you can see the colors I am talking about. The stone is darker , not so bright.

This is really pretty. My birthstone is a garnet, I have always thought it was like a crimson color (looks deep red like blood). I didn't know it came in different colors. Learned something new.
