Shepherd's Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris)
Annual or overwintering annual. Native to Europe and Asia. All zones. Hemostatic agent used to stem excess menstrual bleeding or post-partum hemorrhage. The plants grow well in heavily manured soil, and they grow best during the cool months. Sow in suimmer or fall. Thin to 6 inches apart. Flowers up to 18 iches tall. In coordination with this plant's habit as an overwintering annual we suggest sowing these seeds in the fall and harvesting the herb in the late spring.
