Description

The listing, Red Rose Tree (Knock Out) x 6 Seeds has ended.

Thank you for looking at my listing. I am offering 6 of my mother's Red Knock Out Rose Tree seeds. I didn't get any pics of them in bloom so I am offering stock photos.

I will take reasonable offers for a GIN. Please send me a private message.

Hardy in zones 5-10, These roses were bred to resist pests and diseases and to tolerate drought conditions.

Rose trees differ from rose plants or rose shrubs. They are cultivated to resemble a tree. The seeds are smaller than what most roses produce. A rose tree consists of a long, slender cane, 32–36 " in length,(trunk) void of any foliage from which rose flowers literally burst forth. Most grow from 4-7 ft. tall.

To plant seeds, make sure the temp outside is about 70 deg. F. Seeds could take from 4 - 16 weeks to germinate. Fill a container with sterile seed starting mix. Use plastic drinking cups with hole punched in bottom, to make root growth easier to view.
Regular soil may not drain well enough and cause the seedlings to rot. Lightly cover with soil, about 1/4" deep. Space at least 2" apart to minimize competition.
Sprouted seeds should emerge within a week. Keep soil damp, but not soggy. Between 60 and 70ºF is ideal. The seedlings thrive on six hours of sun or more each day. The first two leaves visible are "cotyledons," or seed leaves. Once the seedling grows several "true leaves," with a typical rose leaf appearance, it's likely to survive. It's easier on them to transplant to a larger pot in a year or two, and then transplant outside. Do not transplant outside until after the last frost. Once the seedling is looking healthy, water as normal. Fertilizing a few times during the warm growing season may help it grow and bloom, but keep in mind that some varieties of rose will not bloom at all during their first year of life.

I will only ship to verified Listia addresses. If your shipping address is not verified, please do so BEFORE bidding. NO EXCEPTIONS. I do NOT ship outside of the U.S..
