German silver is not pure silver. It's actually an alloy comprised of varying ratios of nickel, copper and zinc; and is called nickel silver, paktong silver, or alpacca silver. And I'm no expert by any means. Just looked it up at precious metals, and you are correct. THERE IS NO SILVER IN GERMAN SILVER> ITS "Nickel Silver" It's made from nickel, Zinc and copper. It does have value as bullion, just not as valuable as Amercian pure silver. I'm learning as I go as well. Steve

Look it up on Wikipedia. German silver has NO silver in it. It is an alloy of mostly cooper with nickle and zinc. It's called German Silver due to its color. Finally found a price in scrap metal for German Silver at $5.50 a pound. Still a neat bar for collectors of curio.
