German silver is not pure silver. It's actually an alloy comprised of varying ratios of nickel, copper and zinc; and is called nickel silver, paktong silver, or alpacca silver.
And I'm no expert by any means. Just looked it up at precious metals, and you are correct. THERE IS NO SILVER IN GERMAN SILVER> ITS "Nickel Silver" It's made from nickel, Zinc and copper. It does have value as bullion, just not as valuable as Amercian pure silver. I'm learning as I go as well.

You realize its German Silver, thus it has no real silver in it. Its color comes from the nickel content. Todays value on this bar ranges from 12 to 24 dollars according to where you purchase it

I am a bit confused. In a statement above you answered .9999 which emplys the bar is pure silver. But further down in these threads of questions you all say it is less than 10% silver or no silver at all.German silver is not sterling for sure.WHAT is the item you are`Auctioning and please tell me the amount in sellable silver or precious metal not scrap metal please.

Look it up on Wikipedia. German silver has NO silver in it. It is an alloy of mostly cooper with nickle and zinc. It's called German Silver due to its color. Finally found a price in scrap metal for German Silver at $5.50 a pound. Still a neat bar for collectors of curio.

I totally agree about that,I got rid of mine because people collect them,Not because they want the silver content.
