Description

The listing, READ BEFORE BIDDING has ended.

I acquired this curiosity at an estate sale down in New London. The former owner was a collector and maker of walking sticks and canes. By the time I got there most of the completed pieces were already bought up, but there were a few drawers full of hardware, brass duck heads etc. This particular piece was like nothing else, very primitive and kind of mystical.
I've been collecting antique knick knacks for a long time and never had anything with an attachment. I'm not sensitive to that kind of stuff. Now I didn't have any way out experiences, but there did seem to be an increase in activity shortly after I brought it home. I don't think it was anything malicious. My wife insisted on doing a cleansing and it's been relatively quiet. It was more like a quiet presence...Again, nothing interactive or malevolent. The cleansing may have released it.
There was a piece of paper tucked into the Sheep(?) or Cow(?) Horn dated 1922 from a place in Louisiana. Possibly where the former owner or someone before him purchased it. This would make a unique piece for anyone's folk art collection. Maybe finish off that walking stick or cane. The bound effigy appears to be brass. Comments and questions welcome. Interestingly enough, the piece of paper has the year of 1922 written on it, but it appears to have been torn from a spiral notebook, which was not invented until 1924 or widely used until 1934

The spiral-bound notebook was fabricated in the year 1924. The exclusive rights have been credited to Edward Podosek. But, the well-known conceptions regarding spiral notebooks illustrate that it was primarily mentioned in the October 1934 edition of Popular Science. The issue did not state who the discoverer was. Early reports also named it the memorandum notebook.

It is a wonderfully unique item, perfect for collectors of folk art, Americana, and mystery lovers of all sorts, and I'm so pleased you listed it! My guess is that someone wrote the information down recording what was told to them - a woman tells her child, "I found this at an estate sale at xyz, the week before your father and I were married." - so they wrote it down for reference by future generations. .. :~}

Given it's possible origin I can't rule it out, but you'd have to consult with someone better versed in that religion. I don't think there's any bad juju though if that helps. If I thought there was a negative energy I wouldn't put it out there to any unsuspecting fellow Listian. With that said though I relinquish all responsibility once it leaves my possession.
