Very detailed and beautiful locket. It looks like realld but I can't see any markings so it is listed as gold toned. Really must see to appreciate, it truely is beautiful!

Is it new or old and does it come with the chain?

It is used I don't know how old it is or what is made of, but there is no chain that is going with it. I think I mentioned it in my auction, I better check to make sure that it stated "pendant only". I just put it on a cheap chain for the pic. (it was eaiser for me to hold on to that way). But it sure is very Beautiful! I have never seen one like this before!
