Why is this not Amaryllis? Sure looks like one. Do you have an idea what it may be? How do you care for it if it is not Amaryllis? Thanks

I know what it is and I know it looks like one but it isn't.It is called a onion plant google it.
It likes to be crowded and lots of water full sun.It doubles each year and I weed it out each year blooms several times a year. When you cut the stem of the bloom it smells just like onion. I know others have different color like white. This will grow for years if you give it the proper care. Now if you don't believe me then don't bid!

This may resemble an Amaryillis but its definitely not. The seller clearly identified this in the listing description. If your ever in doubt, research first then ask questions.

Thank you for the link. I went there and did my research. You have a beautiful amaryllis plant. Growth is similar as far as bulbs go but pregnant onion is a beautiful plant that has only a white flower. Google both Pregnant onion AND Amaryllis. What will make you mad is I am right.

There was never a reason to be this rude as I did want to bid.

The plant is related to the hyacinth family. There a few different rare species and some have the cluster white and green blooms as that is the most and mote common. They are known to also resemble an Amaryillis and be mistaken as allium.

I googled onion plant. I know the allium family is extensive but no where was there a flower like this. Yes I am in doubt that is why I asked after I googled onion plant. If you have any other word for me to google I will gladly do so.

I am not trying to be confrontational, but I can't be the only one asking or wondering. I believe what you say, "onion plant" but googling that gives me nothing but Allium!

And Cathy526 if you have more info please share. I will gladly do more research. Thanks.

It can or you can cover it.I just separate it yearly
replant in pots and find homes for those I don't sell.
They are easy to grow I even sent one to my Aunt in WVA.

I didn't mean the flower smelled like onion I mean the stem of the flower when you cut it.There is a lot of juice substance that comes out quickly so I have the garbage can handy.

What you have growing is Wild onions or wild ramp, which is edible. A pregnant onion does not have any onion scent when I cut the leafs from mine, also they are much longer and strappy.

Believe me this is not wild onions or ramps,I was born in WVA where ramps grow. What you see is a young plant. They bloom several times a year. These are not edible,so if you win don't eat these.
