For watchers, bidders and yourself, just in case you didn't already know, there were 3 types of "1948" canadian cent's made. 1 type had date 1948. The other 2 had date 1947 with a star (it's actually supposed to be a mini maple leaf). These were made in 1948 because of something to do with ghandi and a revolution. I don't remember all the details. I do remember it had something to do with taking the "IND" off of the obverse (front) side. They had to change the front of canadian coins so they ran the 1947 dates into 1948 until they could get it straightened out. The 2 1947* varieties are very similar. 1 of them has a 7 with a point in the angle of the 7. The other has what looks like the corner is nipped off of the 7. I found that out by accident one day online when I was looking for a 1947 US penny. If you find a 1947 without the star, let me know. They aren't valuable that I know of, but it's the only 1 I need for the 40's decade. Also, to my knowledge, this affected english and australian coins as well because they all normally have the same design on the obverse side. At least all the ones I've seen have anyway. Hope this helps with the auction
