This tomato, was developed in the Ukraine, in the 1960s.It was named by a Russian cosmonaut, (who took up gardening after retiring from the space program), who picked the most exceptional tomato he was growing, and named it after his friend, also a Russian cosmonaut, who was killed upon reentry into the Earth's atmosphere.
The plant is classified as an indeterminate variety, but reaches only 5′ in height and is quite manageable, with a sturdy structure to lean on.
The fairly uniform in size, crack resistant, fruits are a vibrant red, slightly flattened globe shape, 3″-6″ in diameter and about 8 oz in volume.
These are a great all purpose tomato, for slicing, dicing, pureeing, cooking, or eating fresh.etc,
