My sister and I take on new growing projects each season. One of them this year has been Heirloom Purple Dragon Carrots! She & I both grow orange carrots, so we were excited to take on purple ones! So, you will receive 15+ Heirloom Purple Dragon Carrot Seeds, along with an info sheet that I have created based on our experiences with these so far, as well as our plethora of knowledge and research!

Having eaten purple carrots before, the flavor is similar to orange ones, especially when eaten raw. I love roasted carrots and that is when the difference comes out for me - purple are actually sweet and a bit firmer than the orange an yellow I cook w/ them. Some folks report a "peppery" flavor, but I haven't tasted that myself. If you boil them, they will color your water!
The first cultivated carrots were purple and yellow. I was shocked too! A range of carrot colors existed in the wild even before people began to cultivate this crop.

Purple carrots derive their color from anthocyanin which are great antioxidants. Antioxidants have been found to be antiviral, antiseptic and antimicrobial, and they also contain anticarcinogens and betacarotenes. Anticarcinogens help to reduce the risk of cancer. They are also known for fighting viral & bacterial infections, such as flu, measles and internal infections of the urinary tract, mouth and stomach.
