I read these books while working in a group home for troubled teen girls. Very very heart wrenching. don't want to give the story away but you are right sooo very sad.

my brother once told my step-mom she was abusing him, she never even spanked him but would punish him, she made him read the first book as punishment, he came out of his room about 3 or 4 hours later crying and went to our step-mom, hugged her and said he was sorry for everything, and from then on he changed the way he talked to her and listened better,considering he was ADHD. i had to read it after that and got hooked i want the whole series if i can find them all, and the ones about his brother. fanned and watching!! :)
