Thank you so much for the answers.. I'm a little confused about the darts in the back.. did you take this in?

Thanks for your question...yes. They were hand stitched, very loosely done. A Whip Stitch is what my Mom always called this particular stitch. This is the loose stitch I used,...not very closely made to one another. Functional, yet meant to be only as permanent as I wanted them to be. (She is the one that taught me to sew.) Not close, or tight, as on a sewing machine. The bust is my smaller proportion, and the dress was a bit too full across in that area for me, so I made 2 simple darts in the back that could be very easily removed. This being a Fancy dress I knew I would eventually be playing it forward and not have it in my wardrobe that long. I wore it to one family wedding. I can take a picture of the darts , inside and out if you like, and add them to the listing if you like. I can also remove the darts if you like, and post some pictures after doing so, or before as well, and after, if you choose, as it may be a question if there may be any marks that they had been in place prior. With this fabric. there will be no sign they were in place if removed. Let me know if I can be of any further help... I know there is a time line before the auction is ending as to when I can make changes to the listing before I am unable to do so...24 hours before maybe? Bye for now!

This is beautiful. Would you mind checking the measurements.. bust (or armpit to armpit), waist, and hips? I would really appreciate it. :)

I apologize for not getting back to you last night...I shut my computer off early. Thanks for your questions! It IS so beautiful, especially with the layering of the fabric! I did my best to measure it, the sizing is rather flexible with it having the Polyester as well as the Spandex, and draping of the fabric. In the full bust It has an Empire sort of style of waist...closer to under the draping bust. I took a couple of darts in the back of 1" each that were just loosely hand whipped in the area of the upper part of the Empire waist which could be left in or easily snipped out leaving no trace. This is what I came up with, 46 Bust, just going from seam to seam, but there is a lot of draping at the front of the Bust... 46-48 At the Hips with the flexibility of the fabric and seam to seam at the Empire waist I got 43" I am smaller than that at the Hips so it drapes nicely with the style in which it is designed. I hope this helps...sorry the answers are not more definitive, but it is a flexibly styled dress... All the best!

Oh, I like that word and it sounds appropriate after you described it.."Whip Stitch". My mother also taught me to sew but she didn't share any fancy stitch names with me, lol. She did give me a sewing machine for high school graduation though. I still use it! I went to nursing school (RN) after graduation and my girlfriend and I used to take-in and hem up our nursing uniforms just a lil bit, as they had A-lines and were not flattering at all. We fixed 'em up. :) We were young and pretty and wanted to be cute in our uniforms.. rather than all frompy, lol. Bad enough we had to wear our hair up in buns with no makeup and no jewelry.. but the unflattering shape of the uniforms was simply awful. We had to have some control, haha. The head nursing instructor looked at us suspiciously and would ***** her head from side to side looking at us up and down.. but she never said anything to us. I used my machine to make all my daughter's boutique clothes when she would wear cute things. That machine has been a faithful friend lol. It stays out and I am always mending the kids' clothes. I just tapered and hemmed a suit for my son's college affairs. I will use it until I can no longer. Lol. I just wish I had that same shape from when I was 19 haha..

Ok, sorry for the reminiscing. I am rather busty, so will probably need to take the stitches out but you can leave them for now. Have seam ripper and know how to use it, lol. :)

Thank you for the awesome answers!

Great!! Happy I could help!! Oh, and goodness I know what you mean about wishing I was built the way I was when I was young!! I used to have a 24" waist!! You could NEVER tell that by looking at me NOW!!! lol!!! And so glad my Mom taught me to sew and shared those tips. I got her Mom's, my Nana's old Singer Featherlight from the 30's or early 40's. It was that my Mom taught me to sew on, and I had it refurbished. It is old, but wonderful!! I so wanted someone to get this great dress!! I hope you get it. I know it will serve you well as it did me. I realize I am a Fan of yours already...if you are not a Fan of mine maybe you could please Fan me back if you like! Thanks for bidding!! :)
