My cousin has autism. Super smart guy. He just has trouble relating to others. Ask him anything about cars and he's like a dictionary :)

I wish that was the only problem with my grandson I know he's smart, because he can play with a tablet and match all colors and numbers. But he doesn't talk and we can't we can't potty train him, It's so hard to know what he understands because he doesn't speak a word.

I really believe that people with autism understand a lot more than we realize. I think they just can't express themselves physically. My cousin asked me if I still thought he was the cutest thing a couple years ago. I told him that when he was only maybe 3 or 4 years old when I thought he was shut down. He was just sitting on the living floor rocking and staring at the wall. He said he heard me and felt me hug him but couldn't really move at the time.
