about 2 1/2" but it gives a little its open on the bottom

Just because something isn't marked doesn't mean it's plated. It could be sterling silver. Atleast I would think it was if it's real turquoise. I have one like this but I never checked the back for a stamp. I just know it doesn't turn your arm green. :D
