The listing, Xbox 360 Optical Replacement Drive (Samsung) has ended.

This is a Samsung MS28 Xbox 360 Optical Replacement Drive. It needs to be flashed and is brand new. It works but only plays DVD's so in order to play Xbox Games you need it flashed. This is for the OLD generation not the new generation xbox.

You don't have to flash these. You can just swap the controller card from each drive, as long as they are similar or identical models. I have done this many times. What concerns me, however, is how well it reads discs. My current drive reads discs very slowly and seems to think games are dvds sometimes. -.-' I hate it. Wish I could swap it with a good PC drive.

i forgot you could swap the controller card. i havent even used this drive because I dont have my old drive to flash it or get the controller card from it so it should read discs perfectly. This drive is brand new, never been used.

yea as long as its not the newer xbox it would work. make sure you have the old one so you can get it flashed though

you take it to someone to flash it. you could do it yourself but i wouldnt recommend that. if you do it wrong, the drive is done and u have your self a DVD player. you can go to cragslist and have someone flash it for $30 if u find the right guy. you have to have your old drive though to have it flashed. I cant use it because i didnt keep my old drive. xbox drives have a certain key to it that is found on the motherboard, and since you cant get the key off of the motherboard (unless its modded, but u would get banned from xbox live) you have to get the key off the old optical drive. flashing doesnt even take 5 mins if u go to someone that has done it before.

I have like a 2008 xbox and the only thing wrong with it is the disk tray stopped working, pretty sure all I need is this and someone to flash it :P

Yeah my xbox doesnt have a samsung drive so this wont work for me I think, Hope someone outbids me as this isnt what my xbox has :P
