good idea - - -when I photograph I use lg black poster board sort of rolled a bit. . . . it gives seamless backdrop, doesn't always work for everything and I am not a good photographer, so glad to see how other folks do it - - - - but I meant do you use buttons on the clothes, velcro or zipper?

oh. lol. i use mostly Velcro. sometimes i use snap buttons. never zippers. they don't come that small ( i don't think) i have used hook latches.. there are some that i don't use any, depend on how the item is made. i have only been sewing a few years and still learning. i taught myself lol.

I know what you mean - I am aways looking for easier ways - I have found that the plastic zippers can be shortened by doing an inplace stitch (like end of buttonhole) over the teeth and then cutting it - I like zippers - snaps not so much - velcro yanks the fabric a lot - but hey they(the kids) need to learn to be careful and work slowly - right? . . . lol

secret is: you sew the seam shut with a basting stitch, (I use longest stitch I have on my machine), - then lay the zipper in place and pin to secure it - and sew down one side and up the other and then take out the basting thread - you get a neat tight seam because it was sewn shut when you did the zipper - I have loved doing zippers since I learned this trick from another crafter. This works best when you do the front of the garment separately from the back and then sew them together at the sides.

don't forget to readjust your stitch length after you sew the seam shut, so you don't sew the zipper with a basting stitch - - been there!
