a scarf is under 6 feet long and a boa is 6 foot or longer hence snake name

It is a frilly loosely knitted light weight hairy yarn. It is soft and fluffy. Always assumed any: light fluffy (feathers or no feathers) six foot long fashion item was considered a "Boa". Less length would be a "Scarf"
