Oh I guess I should say the name of my ship USS Franklin D Roosevelt ( CVA_42 ) Also called the Rosie Boat. There was also another name but it wasn't politically correct.

"Fanned" and "Watching".... "------- For Dummies" is a good title for me.... I got up in the middle of the night & did some Listia browsing AND.... my desktop clock shows date as 3/1 THEN..... This Listia program states that your auction, of this, ENDS: 2-29th.... Finally, I realized that my *&#@**#onese desktop clock is a Dummie to leap years !.... A....O K !.... You both have Neat Icons AND Thanking Yall for Your Service.... Just a brief.... My brother-in-law was aboard the WWII Carrier that towed that captured German U-boat across the Atlantic ( I think into Norfolk ).... That was kept Classified for about 20 years ( we got a lot of outta that boat.... I do Not know if it had a German Ignigma device on-board ).... I was in a Civilian photo lab when a Photo of a partially submerged sub with a steel cable running to it showed up ?!?.... I wondered if it might be that German U-boat in tow ?.... Being Not a Classified work order, I made an extra print and took it to my brother-in-law.... He was flabbergasted and said.... "How in Hell did you get that !!!??? I just got a letter that it has finally been Unclassified.".... Hope Yall get a kick outta that one AND.... Have a Good One.... Oh ! I was in some kinda branch of our USAF.... First duty station that I went to, ALL.... I saw were USN uniforms that first day !?! Until I found out why, even though we were inland about a 100 miles from the Pacific.... Now retired on Lake Conroe about 40 miles North of Houston.... In Texas of Our U S A....

I have 2 Nephews who are currently in the Air Force. My brother started off in the Army then wound up re-enlisting in the Navy after his first 3 years. He served aboard the USS Forrestal (CV 59) also nicknamed The USS Forrest Fire, also aboard the USS Briscoe (DD 977) & Comte de Grasse (DD 974). He was OM Division. Most every-one in my family has served (in one branch or another). Thanks for your service! = )

LOL Awesome! Yep! A ton of history behind those old ships. Wish they all could have been turned into floating museums. But most were either scrapped, ended up coral food or died on a live fire range. Forrestal almost sent herself to the bottom as soon as she was commissioned. LOL But the Navy did learn a lot about training Fire Fighters after that one!

Yeah, I read up on some history about her. She had a busy life = ) The first F-18 Hornet Strikes were launched off her deck. Was always a Tomcat fan. But ,the Hornets have grown on me over the years. The Super Hornets are absolutely amazing!
