The listing, Sundew (Drosera capensis) - Live Carnivorous Plant has ended.
Here's something unusual and wonderful for you! Drosera capensis, the Cape Sundew! This amazing little plant has evolved to capture and digest insects to provide nutrition since it grows in areas that have nutrient poor soil.
This plant needs to be kept very wet all the time. Pot it in a mix of 50% sphagnum peat and 50% sand or perlite for a well draining but moisture retaining mix. Do NOT use regular potting soil or any fertilizers because they will kill the sundew. Sundews are best grown in bright indirect light with its pot in a tray of water that can be kept as high as the soil line. Do NOT feed it meat of any kind. It will catch insects on its own and does not need to be fed specifically. Sundews are a GREAT plant to combat fruit flies!! More growing information can be found at http://www.carnivorousplants.org/howto/GrowingGuides/D_capensis.php
I grew this plant from seed in my own greenhouse and can attest to its excellence in catching insects and its health. It will be shipped with its roots wrapped in wet long fiber sphagnum moss and will need to be potted on arrival.
