6 Vintage Plastic Red Heart Buttons ~ Plastic or Bakelite?

They are still carded, and the card is torn as shown. There is some shadowing in the first photo that isn't on the card, from my arm and the camera angle. The buttons are all in good shape. I'm not certain how to test them for bakelite, so they might be made of that, or if not, then another type of plastic. I put a dime in the first photo to help indicate their size.

**Shipping is $3.00 and non-negotiable. Anyone who has negative comments or asks me to lower the shipping may be blocked or ignored**

**If you bid and then can't pay for the shipping, then I reserve the right to keep all credits. I've been getting way too many newbies who don't read all the description before bidding**

We can figure out if they're plastic or bakelite by rubbing the heck out of one of them with your thumb and if you can detect a "smell" then they are bakelite. Plastic, and you'll smell nothing. Care to give it a try?

Well, I don't smell anything but maybe I'm just not rubbing it hard enough? I don't know, my hand has some arthritis in it so I can't rub it to death so to speak. Hmm..

You'd surely catch the smell, it's very distinct. Doesn't take much. Anyway, they're really great buttons, and on the card! I want to bid, but I can't, as I can't pay shipping both going and coming in. Waaaahhhhh......

I have heard you should take some sort of cleaning fluid (I forget which one) and rub the button with it but I'm afraid to discolor it. I'm not sure what you mean by "both going and coming in" for the shipping. (??)

Yea, thats what I thought it was 409... I have tried that before with some actual bakelite buttons ( someone told me they were bakelite) and I guess my sinuses are really bad and still couldn't smell it. :( I will try to get some 409 again before auction ends. Thanks for the tip.

Still didn't get the 409, it's been really hectic :P Sorry, I still don't know if they're bakelite or not...but they're really old and vintage, I love hearts.
