The Mormon communities have alot of events, wedding receptions, funerals, holidays, etc & there is always lots of food brought as pot luck. There are certain recipes that alway show up at these events. For instance homemade breads & rolls, casseroles, "funeral potatoes"(so called because scolloped potatoes of all kinds are always there). Lots of desserts, like "green jello" , pies & cakes. All kinds of salads that always show up.
