How "Happy Hands" Happened

I originally formulated Happy Hands for myself, when I couldn't find a commercial product that worked for me.

Up here in the high mountain desert, dry hands are a year-round problem. I needed a creamy lotion that would deeply moisturize & soften my hands, but absorb quickly and NOT leave a greasy residue on my hands. And of course, it had to smell wonderful!

It took me a year to work out this formula: a lotion that is so very thick and creamy so you only need a small dollop, quickly absorbed, nourishing and moisturizing with NO greasy residue; and glossy pure white, because I don't want to add any artificial colors to my products.

Why "Happy Hands" Work So Well

~ Goat’s milk is high in protein, loaded with absorbable Vitamins A, B6, B12 and E.

~ Honey has been used in skin products since ancient times; it is a natural antioxidant & anti-microbial.

~ Shea butter comes from the nut of the African karite tree; an extremely therapeutic emollient, helping to heal cracked & damaged skin.

Are these natural and/or organic based products?

I'm very picky about ingredients because my skin is sensitive, so I use natural ingredients as much as possible, and add no coloring agents. I am careful to use only pthalate-free fragrances, and even pthalate-free bottles.

However, I use cosmetic fragrance oils, NOT essential oils, because even though essential oils are more "natural", they can be very strong, and irritating to sensitive skin.

And, please note I DO use preservatives. Because a little of my Happy Hands goes a long way, that means a large bottle will last you a long time. I use preservatives to make sure the cream is good to the last drop. I chose food-safe preservatives, because I figure if it's okay to EAT it, it will be safe on your hands.

FYI, here's the official INCI list of the ingredients in Happy Hands: Pure Distilled Water, Glyceryl Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Caprylic/Capric Glyceride, Stearic Acid, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Soybean Oil, Shea Butter, Dimethicone, Sunflower Oil, Aloe Barbadensis, Goat Milk Extract, Hydroxypropyl Trimonium Honey, Methylparaben, Propylparabaen, DMDM Hydantoin, Triethanolamine Disodium EDTA.

maybe some research on-line might help you find that right scent. It's been over five years since I purchased my items from the Hershey factory and they are still smelling strong.
