FREE: School ring

Hi, this is from a large auction lot of gold and silver coins I won a couple years ago, it included some real and some costume jewelry.

This piece had me curious, it looks like a girl's class ring on a chain, but it seems smaller than normal. almost like for someone with tiny hands or maybe it's meant to be worn not as a class ring but as an accessory.

I see no markings, so its likely not solid gold, plated maybe, but like I said, I see no markings. The ring itself says western high school and the year on the ring is 79.

So, not sure what I have here so up it goes on Listia. If any of you guys know anything about this feel free to post.
