Hi :) No worries, Its where they attach to your ear through magnets, so the front of ear has a magnet then the back is a magnet, so it holds it in place, for people who dont have holes, or dont want to wear pierced. Hope this helps/ :) hope to see you bidding

Are these only for ears like you don't think they'd work as a fake nose piercing?

You know what, I hadent thought about that. It might work for nose, just will be the size of these studs so a little bigger than usual nose ring. Hope this helps.

my opinion would be that it would work on the cartilage as well, since its not that thick. I think it should work :)
