Description

The listing, Set of 1940's Lincoln Wheat Pennies Cents with 2 BONUS Coins + sliding scale bonus! has ended.

You will receive a 1940's Set which includes the following:

1940 (copper) cent
1941 (copper) cent
1942 (copper) cent
1943 (steel) cent
1944 (copper) cent
1945 (copper) cent
1946 (copper) cent
1947 (copper) cent
1948 (copper) cent
1949 (copper) cent

Plus two bonus "bookend date" coins:

1939 (copper) cent
1950 (copper) cent

That's a total of 12 cool coins (11 copper and 1 steel)... All have easily readable dates and are in good condition, no junk!

Sliding Scale Bonus #1: If the bidding goes over 500, I'll throw in another 1930's wheat cent (1938 or older).

Sliding Scale Bonus #2: If the bidding goes over 1000, I'll throw in an additional 1930's wheat cent that doesn't duplicate the others...

Sliding Scale Bonus #3: If the bidding goes over 1500, I'll throw in THREE more from the 1950's!

Sliding Scale Bonus #4: If the bidding goes over 2000, I'll throw in a 1920's wheat cent!

REGARDING THE PICTURE: I have a LOT of coins to offer, so I don't have individual pic's of each set that I'm offering. But trust me that they'll ALL have easily readable dates. I don't have any 'weak' date or 'no date' coins listed... Those are all pulled out and not kept with the readable date coins.

Thanks!

NOTE: While I'm new to Listia, I'm getting ready to celebrate my 16th anniversary selling on eBay: http://bit.ly/xTYTeT

NOTE 2: I have LOTS of coins that I'm going to be offering on Listia, so be sure to fan me and watch my upcoming listings!

I know very little, make that NOTHING, about collecting wheat pennies, or any other for that matter and I just won my first one the other day. I read that you should not clean your coins and yours do not look like you have. Am I right? In either case?

You are right in both cases. You should never clean coins with the exception of coins found on the bottom of the ocean (which HAVE to be cleaned for a number of reasons). And I have never cleaned a coin ever. I don't have any cleaned coins in my collection and I am not selling any. The few times that I ended up with a cleaned coin (in a trade or something) I have quickly gotten rid of it.

I thought of one other exception... When folks refer to cleaning coins, they are talking about with solvents and chemicals. I metal detect and when I find coins caked with dirt and mud, I'll soak/wash them with dish washing soap and water to remove the mud. That's not the same as using silver cleaner to clean a silver coin. Washing the dirt off of a coin with dish soap and water won't hurt the coin and is accepted as a safe practice. Anything outside of that, no... don't do it.

Thank you for answering so quickly. I found myself tring to look at the pennies in the auctions that have been cleaned or not, but that is about all I know about collecting them. Just Never thought I would have any interest until I got on this bidding site.

Collecting coins is fun and you can start a collection for very little... BTW, I have some coin albums forsale for the State Quarters. You can probably get one for the 100 point starting price!

Sounds like a plan! Seriously though... Collecting coins is a flexible hobby... One thing that's fun is a "Type Collection" ... Instead of trying to get one of each penny made for example, a "Type Collection" is where you try to get one coin of each type... The Dansco 7070 is one example: http://www.danscoalbumstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=1994 (I'm not selling one of those, just showing you what it is)...
