The listing, RARE WALKING STICK CABBAGE/JERSEY KALE 4 SEEDS has ended.
DO YOU WANT TO PLANT SOMETHING UNIQUE? Eighteen feet appears to be the enormous, record height which this remarkable Kale has attained. Very large and vigorous, it gives the appearance when fully grown of a small tree, Coconut Palm even, topped with a head of a great number of proportionately large Cabbage leaves, 2½ ft. or more in length. The stems are straight, stiff, strong and slender and when cut and dried are turned into walking-sticks, much in demand by visitors to Jersey. So why is it here in the vegetable section? Although the fully grown leaves are perhaps only suitable for cattle fodder, the young sprouts in early spring make a very acceptable vegetable for the table, excellent in stir fries and in Portuguese caldo verde. These are found in most every back garden in Portugal, and helped many get through difficult times. It is a perennial cabbage and and will bring you greens when nothing else is growing! Very rare.
