Description

The listing, Ancient Roman coinage "Valentinian" A.D. 364-375 has ended.

These three coins were purchased from a pawn shop here in Louisiana. I bought then under the impression that they were Greek coins from around 200 A.D. When purchased they were nothing more than rust and I couldn't tell what they were. I had to buff the rust off (regrettably) to figure out exactly what the were. The info I found is the closest I've come to their actual identity. I can't guarantee that that info is 100% accurate but it should get you started in the right place. Thanks for viewing and good luck.

You may have the ID more or less correct on the middle coin. The other two are pretty tough. That's definitely Victory advancing left on the reverse but I can't see any of the legend on that side of the coin in your pics. Secvritas Reipublica is certainly possible, but Gloria Romanorvm is pretty common too. Obverse legend clearly begins DN but not sure what's after it. From the spacing of the letters, I would guess Valens over Valentinian, but I can't make out those letters after the DN. Could be Gratian as well but again I can't make out those letters. Here's my favorite site to help ID: http://www.tesorillo.com/aes/_rev/index101i.htm whether you use it or the winning bidder uses it.... cool auction!
