not that I know of......just common since if they look bad. I have and use herbs from my moms and grandmas kitchen cabinet. (both of them have been dead for a long time)... I know of many elders whoom use craft items and herbs from 20 or so years before them.

personally If an herb is to brittle I use those in a burning anyways so no waist....

best advice tho make sure your herbs are in containers or kept wrapped and dry. water and to much moisture can and will be your herbs down fall cuz mold and critters will destroy them.

NOW if you need raw herbs then you would need to grow them fresh or get them seasonal.

say like when you do a sp needing a grape leaf. I take and make up the sp during that season cuz dried grape leaf just doesnt wrap or fold nicely around the intended sp..... now the devils shoestring to weave in or threw can be dryed

but so you know its the basic energy and thought line you put into what you are doing.that matters the most and of course storage.

also so you know.. kitchen witch advice for you.... you know at the store where they have the many hanging bags of herbs for two for a buck and so on.. I collect anything I did not recognize and add it to my herbal cabinet.. I have found out threw the years that many herbs have many names and look different cuz of time of year, its cut or location it came from. BUT same herb.....

also so you know... You DO NOT always have to use some fancy herb some book tells you to use. in some instances you can substitute just make sure you check and recheck its use.. also if you see anywhere at all an herb can be poisonous at all dont ever use it in any ingestable or applying sp. EVER .....3 fold ....even if you dont use it and you make it for another person to use. its YOUR energy used. YOUr 3 fold that comes into play and Karma bites... always remember to check the circle of life for a sp.. basicly imagine who it can hurt in the long run.....

figures, just started my herb collection and the mandrake root is expnsive (wants them all and will have all 3!!!) and i totally agree with the previous posts, <3 zaffron found it in festival foods and it helped quite a bit with my relationship, nice to see another kitchen/green witch :D fanned and bidding... when its the last second :D watch out other bidders!
