If they are not sure whether or not it will have a chemical reaction with their body, take clear fingernail polish and apply it to the inside of the band. As you said, do not wash dishes, take a bath or wash your hands while you have it on. The nail polish will last a long time. My chemicals can turn good Sarah Coventry jewelry.

It is plated in 100 mils of gold but may still work with your body chemistry and turn, can't say for sure. I recommend only wearing for show and removing before doing dishes, working the garden, etc.
