The listing, Disney Ponyo Anime Miyazaki Blu-ray has ended.

I think it is one of Miyazaki's best. Great anime. Inspired by the Little Mermaid story.

Great movie, I wish they would release more of Miyazaki's other films on blu ray, absolutely beautiful animation.

I feel the same way. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke should have been released already. It's weird they released Nausicaa before these two. Unless they are trying to release them chronologically. Out of all his films, I say Ponyo used one of the most brightest colorful palettes. Watching this on my 40" LCD in 1080p is a real treat!

I completely agree. I'd buy Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke blus in a heartbeat. Not sure why they're waiting. I already have Ponyo, otherwise I'd bid, but good luck with your auction :)

What do you think of the new one Arietty? Although it is not personally handled by Miyazaki but I thought the story really lacks. My first impression was, "now you finish the intro, where is the main story? It seriously lacks a good antagonist. Yes the humans are the villains here but it was really boring. It was pretty to look at but not much substance. I don't even know why Disney decided to carry it into USA. Thanks for your comment!

Overall I enjoyed it, mostly because the world they created was so intricate and beautiful, but it did feel like the story just ended abruptly. It's too bad they couldn't take more time to develop the characters and plot more to go allong with the beautiful backdrops. It felt like it ended just when things were starting to happen. I am glad that Disney imported it though. It shows they recognize that there is a market for these films in the US and hopefully they will continue distributing the new movies and re-releasing the older ones.

Next Miyazaki's project's may be very different.

According to Hollywood Channel News, Suzuki Toshio revealed the concept of the next film of Miyazaki Hayao. He said Studio Ghibli is now pursuing realism and the audience cannot watch Miyazaki's new movie at ease. "The earthquake has caused a social unrest, which affected the creators' mind greatly. Poverty has become a realistic threat for the general public. We had already expected the paradigm shift of Japanese society before the earthquake," Suzuki said.

The last gut-wrenching anime that I saw was Graves of Fireflies. It was not done by Miyazaki but it is considered a anime classic. I hope it won't be as sad.

This listia auction of mine may have to be converted into a anime discussion board. LOL!
