Charlie (Joel Edgerton) grew up on a shoe factory. Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor ) grew up loving shoes. When the two meet by chance, their lives intertwine in a hilarious and inspiring story of self - expression.

When Charlie's father dies, the family shoe business begins to suffer. Hoping to turn things around, Charlie makes a daring move and enlists the help of a vivacious drag queen named Lola. Together the pair design and create boots that will appeal to, and support, the crossdressers who crave them. But Charlie soon learns that being different, just like walking in stiletto boots, isn't always easy.
