Here are the list of states where growing cotton in your garden is illegal: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

You know I did not know that, I have raised cotton in Arkansas for over 10 years and I was not aware of that, will put that into my notes when selling it. Thank you so much

It is because in those states it is a cash crop therefore very valuable to farmers. The law is in place to prevent boll weevils from populating. These insects are a danger to the cotton plant and just a few can destroy an entire field of cotton.
