Thank u for detailed response! I have chromecast that's why asking. It probably would be useless with the firestick which has a lot more features. Is it jailbroken or do I have to purchase apps for this firestick?

It's been "jailbrokern": https://www.groundedreason.com/illegal-jailbreak-fire-stick/. You can easily install various versions of Kodi. When I did it, I think the computer and graphic chips in the Fire Stick had some trouble with Kodi apps, but that could have come from a weak WiFi signal. There are plenty of free "normal" Fire Stick apps too.

Could u explain the main difference between this and chromecast? I.e. Say I do not have cable or Netflix but I do have Amazon prime. Will I have to buy apps for this?

The Amazon Fire Stick is a mini computer that has apps on it for streaming content. The Chromecast mostly requires the computing power to be done by your smartphone. You need a smartphone to operate the Chromecast. I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) you get the apps on your phone with the Chromecast and then use Chromecast as a receiver of the streaming content for your TV. The Firestick does not require a smartphone to run. It is kind of smartphone itself that can download and play apps.

Both devices transmit the signal over the HDMI port to your TV in up to HD definition. Neither the Fire Stick nor the CHromecast are capable of transmitting a 4K signal. For that you have to buy the "Fire TV" or the "Chromecast Ultra."

I'll sell you the Chromecast if you want it, for the same price. Just let me know and I'll list it. If you want the Chromecast Ultra, I would charge 8.2 million. For the Fire TV (not the Fire TV Stick), I would charge 12 million. I can list them, just let me know if you are interested.

Here are the specs:
* Chromecast - https://www.google.com/chromecast/tv/chromecast/tech-specs/
* Chromecast Ultra - https://www.google.com/chromecast/tv/ultra/tech-specs/
* Fire Stick - https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Fire-TV-Stick-With-Alexa-Voice-Remote-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B00ZV9RDKK
* Frire TV - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00U3FPN4U/ref=ods_mccc_slo (only available as refurbished, maybe because Amazon is going to release a new 4K product soon. I don't know).

So do the kodi apps on it work well?

I don't remember clearly. I think it depends a lot on the strength of your wifi, but I could be wrong. Many of the Kodi apps are just repeats of the Fire apps. I didn't try any of the illegal streaming ones on the Kodi. I also installed Kodi on a Raspberry Pi 3. my impression from that was that the video card wasn't good enough in the Raspberry Pi, but again my Wifi signal wasn't that strong. Right now I have solved my streaming problems by getting a signal booster and using a cheap PC with a good video card. I can then use the TV as a monitor when I want to work as I exercise (the TV is in front of the exercise bike) and can stream from YouTube when I want to watch video. We also have a $30 a month subscription to Sling TV which gives us the cable tv stations we use to have, through the internet.

Ok so last question. If I want to watch my Amazon prime shows, do I just plug it into my computer first to install my password and username?

No, if you own an Amazon Prime account and order it from within that account it will come prefigured for your account. You can also reset it to blank it out before reselling it if you decide to do that. You can also sign onto the account from within your firestick, if I remember correctly they give you a primitive remote that allows you to choose letters from a virtual keyboard that the Fire Stick displays whenever you have to enter text. It's like the virtual keyboard in WIndows or the one on your smartphone. It's clumsy but gets the job done.

And so it is brand new but u opened it to install the apps?
Sep 10th, 2017 at 1:36:19 PM PDT by

No, it will be shipped directly from Amazon. I will tell them to send you an unlogged in one...a non-prefigured one. It will I think have some preinstalled apps that Amazon installs by default, but I think you can remove them and add whatever you want.

Ok bc earlier u said it had already been jailbroken?

No, what I meant is somebody had jailborken it and posted instructions how to do it, not that the item I'm selling is already jailbroken. The item I'm selling is being shipped directly from, Amazon, I won't be able to manipulate it. It will be a standard issue Amazon product. There are instructions online for installing Kodi on the Fire Stick, that is what is meant by saying the the Fire Stick is "jail broken."

Here are some instructions from July of this year, which I think means they are pretty current: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/media-streamers/1404248/how-to-install-kodi-on-the-amazon-fire-tv-stick-3-best-ways-to-download-kodi
