Description

The listing, WORLD WAR II V-MAIL FORM has ended.

Genuine World War II V-Mail letter form. V-Mail forms would be photographed and film containing hundreds of letters would be sent overseas to troops in an effort to reduce space for more needed war supplies. The film would be processed in Europe or Pacific Theater and photo of V-mail letter would be distributed. A rare and very unique piece of WWII history. NOTE Poster in last picture is NOT included in the auction but added for historical interest. The auction is for the V-Mail letter form illustrated itself.

In second picture, you see a small circle at the top of the form.. This was for the mail censor to mark the fact the letter had been censored and any secret military information would be blacked out.

Later in the war, the V-Mail letters themselves would be shipped to troops and V-Mail form provided a standard sized compact way to ship letters to the troops.

Thanks Mike and good luck. It is a neat piece of history and particularly love the place for the military censors stamp!
