This is a Solid Steel Branding Iron ,It has a "W" well - "M" medium -"R" rare. All you do is set it on the grill till it is good and hot ,and right after you put your steaks on ,just place it on top for a few seconds ,it is marked so you know how to cook it. It measures 15 1/2 " from top to bottom. This is a lot of fun,and makes it easier on the cook.
