Vintage 15-light string of Happi Time electric Christmas tree lights from Sears, Roebuck & Co. in original box -- and what a box it is.
The red box features two happy children (the boy sporting Christmas festive green short pants and a neatly tucked in red shirt) standing in front of a Christmas tree, presumably lit with Happi Time lights. What's cool about the box is the top tucks back allowing the tree to pop up as a display (see second picture).
All the lights work, but these are for bid strictly as vintage decorations and not as actual lights. I wouldn't trust 60 year old lights. Also, to state the obvious, these are the old school bulbs that get HOT, although this box does advertise the "When one goes out -- the rest stay lighted" feature.
I love the look of this old box which is is in good shape on the top. The bottom of the box, however, has multiple areas that are chewed away, but whether from mice or decay I can't tell. The bottom is not worn through so that anything droops or falls through, but it is quite worn.
The bulbs in this set are in exceptional shape, as are the wires, but again, I wouldn't suggest actually using them as tree lights.
Box measures 12 x 13-1/8 inches by 1-3/4 inches tall.
